Assisi hosted a Memorial Ceremony in honour of Guido Dettoni della Grazia, who passed away on 6 March 2026. It was a special occasion that brought together family, friends, colleagues and admirers from around the world to remember and pay tribute to his life, his work and the lasting legacy he leaves behind as an artist, a friend and a human being.

My name is Silvia Buzi, and I am a member of the Santa Maria delle Rose Cooperative. I have known Guido since 2011, when he gave me the opportunity to work with and contribute to his artistic legacy.
It is difficult for me to find the right words at this moment, when you lose a great artist who was, above all, also a great friend to you.
Guido was a very special person to me, with his smile, his generosity and his creative enthusiasm. He had an immense wealth of knowledge; with him, you could talk about anything.
His work made my days brighter, and every moment we shared was a precious gift. Through his work, he was able to create a precious bond that time will never be able to erase.
Guido, you will always live on in our hearts and in the eyes of every visitor who encounters your artistic universe. We should all be grateful to you for everything you gave us and left behind.
One day, he asked me, “What is my Maria to you?”
I replied, “It is a very special image because it allows even those who do not have a faith to perceive the spiritual and the divine. It is an icon without a face because it does not seek a precise identification, other than the one given to it by the spirit of each individual, which is unique and unrepeatable.
It welcomes everyone. It has no age, because it does not belong to any particular time, other than the eternal time of the spirit and prayer.
Thank you, Guido, for creating so much light out of blindness… the light that you bring into the eyes and hearts of those who look at you through her.
Today we are all gathered here because we want to continue speaking to you, feeling your presence and remembering you, because the affection that unites us goes beyond any farewell.
So, goodbye, Guido… keep guiding us on this journey.”
